We know how to rebuild after typhoons or earthquakes, but how do we rebuild after a pandemic? How do we Cebuanos adjust to the new normal? Here are a few thoughts and tips:

 Accept And Adjust (We Know It’s Hard!)


The first step to moving on? Acceptance. While we might find ourselves longing for the good old days, there's a high chance that we won't be getting back to that anytime soon.


The next best thing would be to accept living in a new situation. We know it's easier said than done, but doing so can help you adjust, and perhaps even thrive in the new normal.

Follow Safety Protocols


Safety protocols are part of our new normal. Keep yourself and others safe by following these

  • Wash your hands regularly, especially after handling packages or high-touch surfaces.

  • Wear a face mask every time you go out. This helps prevent the spread of the virus.

  • Maintain social distancing. Always stand at least one meter away from other people when out in public.

  • Disinfect packages before opening them.

  • Disinfect doorknobs, light switches, tables, and counters regularly.

Here at Cargotel, our guests' safety is our number one priority. We have also adopted new protocols to ensure that you have a safe and fun stay with us. All of our rooms are regularly sanitized, and we carefully check the temperature of everyone that enters the hotel premises. We also ask all our guests to wear a mask when they check into the hotel. 


Realign your goals!


Those goals and resolutions you set at the beginning of the year? You might have to change those, too. Saying goodbye to the things you were looking forward to at the start of 2020 is painful (we know how it feels!), but setting new goals and looking forward to new things can also help you develop a more hopeful mindset.


Sit down and ask yourself: what am I looking forward to for the remainder of this year? List at least 10 things down. It could be something small (getting a new table for your WFH setup) or something big (traveling again)--- it’s totally up to you. The important thing is you set new goals and work towards them slowly but surely.

Learn how to be self-sufficient


The pandemic has brought a lot of problems to light, namely our dependence on so many things. One way to help you get over that is to learn how to be self-sufficient. For example, you can lessen trips to the grocery store by growing your own food. Start by growing an herb garden and then move on to bigger plants once you’ve mastered the skill.

Or instead of going out to have your laundry done, try doing it yourself. We could all use some exercise anyway.

Lastly, you can also try to learn a new skill like baking, riding a bike, or fixing your clothes. Learning a couple of these skills (at your own pace, of course) can help you be independent and self-sufficient.
